The beloved mice of Brambly Hedge are back for their final season with us!
This year, embark on a brand-new interactive adventure inspired by the classic book, The High Hills, alongside our charming Sea Story trail.
Follow the footsteps of Wilfred and Mr Apple as they journey into the High Hills on an unexpected and enchanting expedition. Perfectly suited for families, our immersive trail invites children to solve riddles, collect stamps, and complete fun challenges – all while exploring the spectacular grounds of the Abbotsbury Swannery.

The High Hills
Climb, explore, choose your character!
Step straight into the pages of The High Hills at our dedicated interactive play area. Families can follow Wilfred and Mr Apple’s epic journey with hands-on activities inspired by the classic tale. Little adventurers can scramble up the mountain peak, search for hidden gold nestled among the rocks, and visit the dressing-up area to transform into a Brambly Hedge character for the day!

Sea Story
Adventure on the high seas!
Set sail and get ready for adventure with Sea Story, following the mice on their epic journey down to the coast. An interactive Q&A trail brings the maritime tale to life across the Swannery grounds. Young explorers can test their knowledge, hunt for clues, and track down Periwinkle – a beloved new character to spot alongside Wilfred and Mr Apple!

Stamp Points
Can you find them all?
Secret stamp stations are hidden all across the Swannery grounds, waiting for young explorers to track them down. Every station you find rewards you with a unique stamp for your activity booklet and a fascinating fact about our resident nesting swans and their home on the Fleet.
Once the booklet is complete, children will have successfully navigated the trail while gathering plenty of fun wildlife facts along the way!

Need a moment to relax after the trail?
After finishing the trail, why not head over to the Swannery Café to relax while children enjoy the Brambly Hedge colouring sheets? You can also visit the Gift Shop to browse a selection of books from the classic collection, as well as themed gifts and souvenirs.
Opening times & dates
Abbotsbury Swannery is open daily from Saturday 14th March until Sunday 1st November 2026. The Brambly Hedge trail is included with standard entry and is available throughout the entire 2026 season.
